What is Eco Church?
Why is St Mary's getting involved?
As part of St Mary's mission to share our faith with others in the local community and beyond, we want to demonstrate that we care for God's creation, through our worship and teaching, our building and land, in local and global campaigns and through considering our personal lifestyles.
What's happened so far?
We have registered with Eco Church to start the award process, and have put together a plan of actions and activities
- Using Fairtrade Foundation tea and coffee for church refreshments
- Changing the church lighting to LED lamps/bulbs
- Eco Church noticeboard in the church
- Churchyard - looking at wildflowers to encourage biodiversity, swift and bat boxes, having planters (where appropriate), looking at our mowing plan
- Continuing to support global and local charities such as Christian Aid, Operation Christmas Child, Children's Society
How can I get involved?
Peter Joynson is leading on behalf of St Mary's, and would welcome volunteers to get involved in the planned activities.
